Founded in 2024 by musician & instrument enthusiast Nicholas Moy, Beyond Tone Instruments was built around a simple idea: exceptional instruments should feel as distinctive as the people who play them.
What began as a passion for boutique guitars & unique gear has grown into a collaborative operation with Charles Drew & Justin Imperatrice joining the Beyond Tone team, bringing additional experience, perspective, & energy.
We specialize in boutique, custom-built, rare, & hard to find guitars, amplifiers, pedals, & musical equipment from builders around the world. Our inventory is intentionally selective. We look for pieces with personality! Instruments that stand apart through craftsmanship, design, innovation, history, or simply the way they make you want to keep playing.
Beyond Tone is also built around relationships. Whether you're searching for something specific, considering a trade, looking to move a special instrument, or simply exploring what’s out there, our goal is to make the experience personal, straightforward, & enjoyable.

- A longtime drummer in the NYC music scene, Charles brings a background in recording engineering along with years of hands on experience in live sound, production, & show setup. From drums & studio gear to speakers, cables, & complete audio systems, he has a deep working knowledge of pro audio and is always happy to help find the right setup for the job. -
- A lifelong guitarist with deep rock & roll roots, Justin has spent years immersed in music scenes from New York to California. With an extensive pedal collection & firsthand experience with seemingly everything under the sun, he knows what delivers, what’s just okay, and what’s mostly hype & enjoys helping players find gear that genuinely fits their sound. -
